President's Welcome
Welcome to the Newfoundland and Labrador Federation
of Agriculture (NLFA)'s new website. This new site
allows for easier access to a greater number of services
offered by the NLFA, and much easier navigation of
the website sections and links. The site also helps
to spread agriculture awareness by giving the industry
in this province a greater online presence. Enhancing
the professionalism and attractiveness of agriculture
and NLFA will result in a more competitive industry.
Likewise, it will provide the public with confidence
in the food and products we produce for the marketplace.
The new website will also help with some of the issues
in human resources facing the agriculture industry
in Newfoundland and Labrador. As a communication tool,
the website will assist industry with career development
options in the agriculture industry.
Members of the NLFA will have a dedicated section
where they can log in and get valuable membership
information, including AgriVantage discount information.
When the site is completed it will have the following
features:
- To provide services to the Membership of NLFA;
Funding information for members/sample applications/guiding
principles/resources/etc.
- To provide services to the Commodity groups of
NLFA Funding information for commodity groups/sample
applications/guiding principles/etc.
- Board of Directors of NLFA - back end area for
minutes/travel claims/etc.
- Public information - general as it relates to
agriculture
- Education for children and schools, teacher reference
- Media posting center - for press releases/photos/backgrounds/etc.
- Provide a one stop shop for events and news in
the agriculture industry.
Funding for this website was provided by the Agricultural
Policy Framework (APF), which is a five-year federal-provincial-territorial
agreement on agriculture that came into effect in 2003.
The APF has helped create a national approach to agriculture,
one that provides a solid foundation for success.
