New President Elected at Federation of Agriculture Annual General Meeting

Date Published: March 16, 2009

The Newfoundland and Labrador Federation of Agriculture (NLFA)’s Annual General Meeting (AGM) and seminar entitled “Keeping Good Things Growing!” was held in Gander, March 11 and 12, 2009 at Hotel Gander.

At the AGM local agriculture producers elected Eugene Legge as their president. Legge is a chicken farmer based in Harbour Main who has been involved in the agriculture industry since 1966.

“I look forward to taking on the challenges and embracing the opportunities in this growing industry”, said Federation President Eugene Legge. “I would like to thank our members for their support and I eagerly anticipate providing them with a strong voice for the industry that has become synonymous with our organization. I would also like to thank our outgoing president Merv Wiseman for all the hard work and dedication he provided throughout his tenure.”

The Newfoundland and Labrador Federation of Agriculture’s AGM was a great success, with approximately 100 delegates in attendance. The meeting provided an excellent opportunity for farmers, government personnel, guest presenters, and Federation representatives to network.
