Federation of Agriculture Pleased with Funding ExtensionDate Published: April 07, 2008The Newfoundland and Labrador Federation of Agriculture (NLFA) is pleased with the announcement made by the provincial and federal Ministers last week about the extension of funding during the current period of transition from the Agricultural Policy Framework (APF) to the incoming Growing Forward initiative.
The Honourable Gerry Ritz, Minister of Agriculture and Agri-Food and Minister for the Canadian Wheat Board, and the Honourable Kathy Dunderdale, Newfoundland and Labrador Minister of Natural Resources, announced details last week about the continuation of programs under APF.
“The APF agreement is considered by the Federation of Agriculture, and in fact, most of the farming industry, to be the flagship funding agreement of the industry,” said NLFA President Merv Wiseman. “We are confident that the Growing Forward initiative that will replace the outgoing APF agreement will deliver the same calibre of great projects, and this extension of APF for the transition period is just what the industry needs to remain prosperous.”
