Federation of Agriculture Encouraging Attendance of Open Farm Day

Date Published: September 21, 2007

The 6th annual Open Farm Day is set to take place this Sunday, September 23rd, 2007, and the public is being invited to visit the 18 farms participating throughout Newfoundland and Labrador. The Newfoundland and Labrador Federation of Agriculture (NLFA) also thanks the provincial Department of Natural Resources and Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada for their efforts in organizing this event.

“This is a unique opportunity for the public to experience farming activities and gain a new appreciation for the agricultural products they use daily”, stated Merv Wiseman, NLFA President. “Creating awareness of the agriculture industry in the province is an important objective for our organization, and having the public come out to meet the people involved in the industry and seeing where the food we eat comes from is a great way to accomplish that goal.”

Open Farm Day is a family-oriented event featuring hayrides, petting farms, and farm markets.
