Melvin Rideout

Melvin J. Rideout was born in Corner Brook Newfoundland Oct 31, 1971. He grew up on a family farm that was started by his grandfather, from a land settlement from the Second World War. Upon graduating from Elwood High School he started to work on the family farm (Rideout’s Farm Inc). Melvin started out as a general laborer and discovered his passion for the Agriculture Industry. He took many marketing, training and accounting courses to further his education into the Agriculture Industry. He is now general manager of two operations, Rideout’s Farm Inc. and Rideout’s Dairy Inc.

Melvin joined the Humber Valley Agriculture Association in 1992 and became President of the association in 1999.

Melvin became a member of the NLFA in 1992 and ran for position of Vice-President in 1998. He was Vice-President for three years when he stepped down to dedicate more time to the family farm operation. While on the board he worked on different projects such as, Farm Safety Issues, Farm Business Management and Soil and Water Conservation.
